XCR Hurricanes looking to keep momentum at second meet

The Holland Hurricanes will travel to Truro, Nova Scotia on Sunday when they compete in the second Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) cross-country running meet of the season being hosted by the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus (Dal AC) Rams.

The Hurricanes men’s team is looking to build on their victory from the first meet of the season in Sackville, New Brunswick hosted by the Mount Allison University (MTA) Mounties on September 14.

Hurricanes runner, Ben Sullivan, was the ‘Canes top finisher in the first meet of the season, finishing in third place.  He is confident that the ‘Canes can continue to perform well this weekend.

“We gained momentum after our first meet and have increased our training since then.  We’re hoping for another strong performance this Sunday in Truro.”

On the women’s side the Hurricanes will be competing with a full-team contingent of six runners for the first time this season.

Alicia McIsaac, who was the top individual runner for the Canes in the first meet of the season, finished in 13th place at Mount Allison.  She is excited to see how the team performs against the top runners from the ACAA.

“Our women’s team has a full roster and we’re ready to compete hard this Sunday. I look forward to seeing our team develop over the remainder of the season.”

The women’s race will begin at noon on Sunday while the men will follow at 1pm.
