Volleyball 'Canes to face MTA and MSVU this weekend

The Holland Hurricanes women’s volleyball team will close out the first half of their Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) regular season at home this weekend.  On Saturday the ‘Canes will host the Mount Allison Mounties at 2pm, with a Sunday match scheduled for 1pm versus the Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU) Mystics.  Both games will take place at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement in Charlottetown, PEI.

The Hurricanes and Mounties enter the weekend tied for first in the conference at 6-0; they’re the only two undefeated teams remaining in the ACAA this season.  The Mystics enter the weekend in third place at 5-1; this is the first time the ‘Canes have faced MSVU since the ACAA championship game last February.

The Hurricanes currently lead the conference in kills per set, assists per set, and service aces per set.

Individually for the ‘Canes, Abby Hyndman and Sam Gerbig sit first and third in the conference in kills per set at 3.38 and 2.56 respectively. Gerbig leads the ACAA in service aces per set with 1.63, while Kateia Barenaba is third at 1.21 and Marissa Macaulay is fifth at 1.11.
