Hockey 'Canes hosting Acadia Axewomen in season opener

The Holland Hurricanes are set to begin their 2019-20 Atlantic Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) regular season on Saturday when they host the Acadia University Axewomen at 8pm at the Cavendish Farms Wellness Centre in Montague, Prince Edward Island.  The teams will then face off again on Sunday at 11am.

This is the first games of the season for the ‘Canes, but the Axewomen enter the weekend at 2-0-0 and sitting atop the standings.  Last weekend they defeated the Cape Breton University (CBU) Capers in back-to-back games at home; first winning 5-0 on Saturday before earning the 3-1 victory on Sunday.

The Hurricanes look to get off to a strong start to begin the season.

“I’m really excited to get our season started,” shared head coach, Jess Cameron.  “We have put in a ton of work over the last month, both physically and mentally.  I’m confident going into the home opening weekend that the team culture we have built, combined with our skill development, will bring promising results.”

Holland College will host the 2020 ACHA Championships at the Cavendish Farms Wellness Centre in Montague, PEI on March 6-8.
