Hobbs and Kaye-Mitchell named Players of the Week

The Holland Hurricanes football team named Tyler Hobbs (defensive) and Matthew-Uriah Kaye-Mitchell (offensive) their Players of the Week following their week one game.

Hobbs, a third-year player from Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, is a defensive lineman studying in the Sport and Leisure Management program at Holland College.

He recorded a sack and twelve tackles in Saturday’s season opener in Fredericton, NB versus the University of New Brunswick (UNB) Red Bombers.

Kaye-Mitchell, a second-year player from Toronto, Ontario, is a wide receiver studying in the Sport and Leisure Management program at Holland College.  He also serves as the team’s kicker and punter.

On Saturday versus UNB, Kaye-Mitchell made five receptions for a total of 110 yards. He also made a 30-yard field goal in the second quarter to give the Hurricanes the early lead in the game.

The Hurricanes ultimately lost their season opener on Saturday by a score of 28-17 to the Red Bombers.  They return to the field this Saturday, September 21 when they host their home opener versus the University of New Brunswick-Saint John (UNBSJ) Seawolves at 1pm at Alumni Canada Games Place in Charlottetown.

The UNBSJ Seawolves also sit at 0-1 this season, losing their home opener over the weekend to the Dalhousie Tigers by a score of 31-14.
