Chargers, Seawolves and Rams in town to face 'Canes

The Holland Hurricanes men’s and women’s basketball teams will be at home for a busy weekend, each team playing a rare, three games in four days.

The action begins on Friday when the ‘Canes welcome the Crandall Chargers to Charlottetown with the women playing at 6pm and the men on the court at 8pm.

After a break on Saturday, the teams return to the court on Sunday when they host the UNBSJ Seawolves at 2 and 4pm.  Play concludes on Islander Day Monday when the Hurricanes host the Dal AC Rams at 1 and 3pm (w/m).

All Hurricanes basketball games this weekend take place at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement.

The women’s Hurricanes, currently sitting in sixth in the ACAA standings with a 5-12 record, have earned four of their regular season wins against this weekend’s opponents.

The UNBSJ Seawolves are in fifth in the ACAA at 7-10; they lead the season series 2-0 after victories in Saint John, NB on November 4 and January 12.

The ‘Canes picked up wins on November 10 and January 31 versus the 3-15 Crandall Chargers while also earning two victories over the 0-16, Dal AC Rams, on November 17 and January 27.

The men’s Hurricanes are 17-0, leading the ACAA standings and have been the number one team in the CCAA National Rankings for the last three weeks.

The men’s powerhouse from Holland College has gone a perfect 6-0 this season versus their weekend opponents; a homestand that will feature the Crandall Chargers (10-8, fourth), UNBSJ Seawolves (7-10, fifth) and Dal AC Rams (3-13, eighth).

This weekend’s action is the final home games of the season for the basketball Hurricanes; they will conclude their regular season on Saturday, February 23 when they visit the MSVU Mystics in Halifax, NS.
