Hurricanes women’s volleyball setter, Laura Ready, and men’s basketball forward, Travis Adams, have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 20.
Ready, in her third year with the ‘Canes, helped her team earn a five-set victory on Saturday when they hosted the St. Thomas University Tommies.
Her 54 assists in the match set a new single-game record for the women’s volleyball Hurricanes. She also recorded four kills, nine digs and three service aces in the win.
With the victory, the Hurricanes improved to 10-3; they sit in second in the ACAA standings.
The women’s volleyball Hurricanes return to action this Sunday when they visit the Dal AC Rams at 5pm in Truro, NS. Their next home game takes place on Saturday, February 16 when they host the UKC Blue Devils at 5pm at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement.
Ready is from Charlottetown, PEI and studying in the Human Resource Management program.
Adams, a fourth year forward from Halifax, NS, led the Hurricanes past the St. Thomas University Tommies on Saturday at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement, 109-80.
Adams scored 23 points while adding 16 rebounds and three assists in the win.
With the victory the Hurricanes improved to 11-0 on the season and lead the ACAA standings.
The men’s basketball Hurricanes return to action on Saturday when they visit the UKC Blue Devils at 4pm in Halifax, NS; their next home game is scheduled for January 31 when they host the Crandall Chargers at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement.
Adams is studying in the Sport & Leisure Management program.
