Objectives to be achieved: To confirm historical family information by Island Loyalist descendants and continue to expand the Abegweit (PEI) Branch Loyalist Archival Database. Assist Branch members at the Annual Public Event in July. Project or activity description: The project is an on-going activity to gather in one place the Abegweit (PEI) Branch documentation of the Loyalist Families of Prince Edward Island. For the purposes of this position, the place of work will be the Prince Edward Island Provincial Archives and Records Office, Charlottetown, PEI.
Job Activities/Duties include:
Education and Skills Required: The successful candidate should be a 2nd, 3rd or 4th year/graduate post-secondary student who is enrolled in a relevant field of study (Social sciences, history, literature, education, librarian, or archival studies, etc.). S/He should be returning to school in the fall term. The candidate must be a self-starter who can work independently to achieve weekly goals and should have good oral and written communication skills, be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Office. A laptop is required, and we will provide an external hard drive for data storage. Audiovisual experience is an asset.
