From the classroom to the ring; Zack Doyle is making the grade as a full-time student as well as a professional wrestler
November 14, 2017
On top of projects, tests and exams, he is also a mainstay as a professional wrestler on the Red Rock Wrestling roster.
Zack is set to appear at the upcoming Red Rock Wrestling: Eye of the Hurricane event scheduled for Friday, December 1 at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement; this is the final Red Rock Wrestling event of 2017 and the first time the promotion has ever held a show on the Holland College campus.
As a current full-time student, Zack is both excited and nervous to perform in front of his fellow classmates.
“Honestly, I’m very nervous to perform in front of my peers,” he shared. “However, with the support I have been receiving I am extremely excited to represent Holland College on December 1 at Red Rock Wrestling: Eye of the Hurricane.”
Doyle, a second-generation wrestler, moved to Prince Edward Island five years ago to work with “Kowboy” Mike Hughes with hopes to learn the craft of professional wrestling. While doing this he would pay his dues by working as a referee with Red Rock Wrestling. Fast-forward to May 2017 where Doyle would finally make his in-ring debut in Stratford. Since then he has been one of the fastest rising stars in the promotion, nicknamed “The Last Real Apprentice”.
During this time he would explore his post-secondary options on Prince Edward Island, beginning his studies at Holland College this past September.
“After a tour of the Holland College campus and receiving information on the Business Administration Program I felt this was the right fit for me. The staff and faculty are amazing and have created a friendly learning environment on campus.”
Tasked with the challenge of balancing a busy academic schedule, as well as a focus on physical fitness, in-ring training and professional wrestling event commitments, Doyle has had to be very organized to ensure he can succeed in both ventures.
“The most challenging thing about being a professional wrestler and a full-time college student is juggling my schedule. If I’m not in class I’m either studying for a course or am in the gym training for the next wrestling event.”
As the biggest event in Red Rock Wrestling history draws near, excitement has been escalating as fans look forward to seeing the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement transformed into the home of Red Rock Wrestling: Eye of the Hurricane. Zack Doyle encourages those who have yet to witness a Red Rock Wrestling event live to do so on December 1.
“If you have never been to a live Red Rock Wrestling event, I highly recommend that people attend this show on December 1. The card will be full of the top wrestlers in Canada and I guarantee that you will be entertained.”
Thus far a main event match for the Red Rock Wrestling Heavyweight Championship headlines the card for Red Rock Wrestling: Eye of the Hurricane where champion “Kowboy” Mike Hughes takes on “The Big Picture” Chris Cooke in a No Disqualification match.
Other stars scheduled to perform include “The Quintessential Intellectual” The Answer, “Youngblood” Cody Blayde, Lincoln Steen, “Dynamite” Dylan Davis, “The X-Fit Wrestler” Kirk Aubé, The American Patriot, Loco, and Dr. Feinstein plus who knows who else could show up that’s not already been announced.
