The Canadian eMotorsports Series visits the Sonoma Raceway on Tuesday for the first of four road-course races this season, the Pressed 4 Time 175.
The 55-lap race around the 2.52-mile raceway comprised of 12-turns features three stages, with full-field cautions scheduled for laps 12 and 24.
This is the sixth race of the 2020 regular season, which features 16 races.
Darcy Ford (PEI, Canada, number 64 Suck It Up Septic Ford for Atlantic Motorsports) has won the last two races; he’s the first driver to register multiple wins this season as he leads the driver standings. Jacob Nelson (Tennessee, USA), Waylon Brown (Alberta, Canada) and Shane Cannon (Ontario, Canada) are the three other drivers that have secured victories so far this season, securing their place in the playoffs.
The top 16 drivers will qualify for the playoffs.
After five weeks we’re starting to see some separation in the standings. Currently, Trevor Kinsey (Michigan, USA, number 6 Ford) sits in the final playoff spot, with Jason MacQuarrie (PEI, Canada, number 66 Chevrolet) trailing him by just four points; the 18th place driver currently sits 12 points out of the playoffs. While it is still early in the season, look for drivers currently outside of the playoffs to have a solid showing on Tuesday before they fall too far out of playoff contention.
Here is a listing of the top 20 drivers in the standings entering the Pressed 4 Time 175.

Drivers to watch this Tuesday include Ford, as he goes for three straight victories; he also earned the only road course win during our pre-season, at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Kevin Fenech (Ontario, Canada, number 81 Primary Engines Inc. Chevrolet) is also a favorite as he is the top driver in the standings that has yet to earn a victory.
Keys to success for Tuesday at the Sonoma Raceway include:
Adapting to road racing | Road racing is much different than racing on ovals. This is a good opportunity for drivers that specialize in road-racing to secure a playoff spot by using their skills to put them in victory lane, while others that have been strong on the ovals may struggle.
Pit strategy | Sonoma Raceway takes over 90-seconds to complete. This unique race offers lots of options for pit strategy; look for drivers to take some chances if they don’t feel their car is capable of winning on speed alone.
Right place at the right time | Not all drivers have the patience and discipline to navigate the twists and turns of Sonoma Raceway. Look for many drivers to lose control of their cars at times; the front runners will be the drivers that keep their cars clean for all 55-laps, avoiding wrecks.
Be sure to tune in to the Pressed 4 Time 175 on Tuesday, June 30 at www.facebook.com/eMotorsportsCAN. The pre-show begins at 7:45pm eastern, with the race following at 8pm.
