Jose Mercado went to victory lane on Tuesday night at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, winning the Subway 150; this was the 11th race of the 2020 Canadian eMotorsports Network NASCAR series regular season.
Mercado is the third multi-race winner of the season, joining three-time winner, Darcy Ford, and two-time winner, Ryan Gibson.
“It was all about patience today,” shared Mercado. “You had to start the track tight then the car starts coming to me during the run. You had to let the car roll through the center of the corner and get back on the gas once the car grabbed the track. It was all about patience.”
The victory increases Mercado’s playoff point total to ten.
Rounding out the top five on Tuesday was Ford in second, Mike Marini in third, Scott Bailey in fourth and Kevin Daigle in fifth.
So far this season, Chevrolet has earned wins in six races, while Ford has produced the winners in the other five; Toyota continues to be winless.
All race winners secure a position in the 16-driver post-season beginning September 15 at the Darlington Raceway. There are five regular season races remaining for 2020.
The seven race winners so far in 2020 include Ford, Mercado, Gibson, Bailey, Shane Cannon, Waylon Brown and Jacob Nelson.
Corbin MacAulay currently sits in the final playoff spot with a sixteen-point cushion.
The 12th race of the season takes place on Tuesday, August 11 at the Michigan International Speedway for the Domino’s 200.
Subway 150 race recap
Darcy Ford started on the pole position on Tuesday, his third of the season. A group of Ford, Gibson, Marini and Mercado broke away from the rest of the pack early in the race. Gibson would eventually take over the lead as the first scheduled caution came on lap 36.
The field would make pit stops under caution with Gibson holding onto the lead upon the restart, eventually being passed by Mercado who would hold the lead at the second scheduled caution on lap 73.
In dominant fashion, Mercado would lead the last 77 green flag laps to claim the victory at the Magic Mile.
Here are the final results from the Subway 150 at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
