The second half of the regular season is in full swing after an exciting race last week at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Fix Auto 200 at the Brickyard.
Darcy Ford took his third checkered flag of the season, increasing his lead in the driver standings as the only multi-race winner this season. This week we turn our attention to race ten of 16 of the regular season, the General Connection 200 at Kentucky Speedway.
Kentucky Speedway is a 1.5-mile tri-oval, the General Connection 200 will be competed over 134 laps, with two scheduled cautions set for laps 40 and 80.
Entering Tuesday’s race, we have had seven different winners through the first nine races of the season, all securing spots in the post-season with their victories.
To-date, Jacob Nelson, Shane Cannon, Waylon Brown, Darcy Ford, Scott Bailey, Jose Mercado and Ryan Gibson have secured their places in the post-season with victories.
Mike Marini leads all drivers in points that have yet to earn a victory. He’s averaged an 8.89 finishing position through the first nine races, having registered the third most total points among the 30+ drivers in the series.
16 drivers at the end of the 16-race regular season will qualify for the post-season; race winners securing spots first, and drivers with the highest total points during the season claiming the remaining openings.
Another race to keep an eye on is the top-26 in the standings who are battling to secure their full-time status in the series for 2021.
Here are the 2020 driver standings entering the General Connection 200 at Kentucky Speedway on Tuesday night.
