Darcy Ford’s alternative tyre strategy at the Silverstone Circuit paid off on Thursday, as he grabbed his second victory of the season at the Cracked Device Company British Grand Prix in the Canadian eMotorsports Network Formula 1 Series.

Ford brought his Ares Racing Ferrari across the line 7.091 seconds ahead of Corbin MacAulay after the Hurricanes eMotorsports driver had five seconds added to his time for an unserved penalty for speeding in the pit lane.

Championship leader Zach Sullivan rounded out the podium in his North Border Racing Ferrari, followed by Michael Dimitroff in his Alpha Flow Honda.

Mark Cox finished fifth in his MCRaceLab, while Jason Butler finished sixth for the second straight week in his 519 E-Racing Bugatti, and Cody Cudmore took seventh in his Silver Hornet Mercedes.

True North Racin’ had both drivers finish in the points with Seth McLuckie eighth and Mike Marini in ninth, while Don Kasza completed the points finishers, coming home 10th in his North Border Racing Ferrari.

Sullivan continues to lead the driver’s standings with 125 points, though MacAulay closed the gap to 11 points after claiming the bonus point for the fastest lap with a time of 1:28.810 seconds.

Ford’s victory, meanwhile, brings him to 105 points, 20 back of the lead.

Meanwhile, North Border Racing extended its lead in the constructor’s standings to 27 points, with Hurricanes eMotorsports moving up to second as Alpha Flow’s streak of consecutive races with both drivers finishing in the points was snapped at six.

After MacAulay claimed his sixth consecutive pole position with a time of 1:26.551 seconds, the majority of the field started on soft tyres, with only Ford and Cox opting for the medium compound.

It was a fast start from the championship leaders, with Ford jumping up to the lead from fourth place and Sullivan moving up from seventh to third as the safety car was deployed before the end of Lap 1 when Colin Doran retired in his Hurricanes eMotorsports Honda.

Following the restart, the racing was competitive all the way through the field, though Ford gradually built a lead as the rest of the field pitted earlier to change tyres. Having built a nearly 30-second gap to MacAulay, Ford pitted at the end of Lap 17, rejoining just behind MacAulay with a fresher soft tyre compared to MacAulay’s mediums. The two battled for a few laps before Ford reclaimed the lead on Lap 20, and never gave it up.

The Canadian eMotorsports Network Formula 1 Series will hit its halfway point next week, with drivers hitting the Hungaroring for the Logitech G Hungarian Grand Prix on Thursday, October 22.
