The biggest race of the year to-date takes place on Tuesday at the Martinsville Speedway, the Fix Auto 250.
Through 24 races in the 2020 Canadian eMotorsports Network NASCAR Series, we’ve determined two of four drivers that will compete for the Series Championship on November 17 at the Phoenix Raceway. The other two drivers that will also compete for the championship will be determined on Tuesday night.
250 laps under the lights at the half-mile, Martinsville Speedway, will be broken into three stages. Ryan Gibson (West Virginia, USA) clinched his place in the championship race with his win at Kansas Speedway in the opening race of the Round-of-8, while Scott Bailey (Michigan, USA) was victorious last week in Texas.
Entering Tuesday nights race, Darcy Ford (PEI, Canada) and Jose Mercado (Florida, USA) currently stand as the two advancing drivers; Ford is 30-points above the cutline while Mercado holds an 11-point advantage.
Of the four drivers that sit below the cutline, Corbin MacAulay (PEI, Canada) currently holds the best chance of advancing; he finds himself trailing by 11-points. Jacob Nelson (Tennessee, USA), Chad Hyder (Ohio, USA) and Mike Marini (Ontario, Canada) all trail by 35, 36 and 39 points respectively.
A win by any of the playoff drivers will automatically advance them to the Series Championship Race.
Drivers that have had success this season on tracks with similarities to Martinsville Speedway include Mercado (won at New Hampshire and Dover), MacAulay (won at Richmond) and Darcy Ford (won at Bristol).
