Though there’s only been one race so far, the Canadian eMotorsports Network Formula 1 Series has proven it’s ready to kick it into high gear.

Drivers will get to showcase themselves once more as they hit the track at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for the second race of the season, the Centennial Auto Sport & Tire Spanish Grand Prix.

After a strong win in the Inaugural Grand Prix at the virtual Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne, Australia, American driver Zach Sullivan will look to make it back-to-back victories in his number 65 North Border Racing Ferrari to begin the season.

Following the Inaugural Grand Prix, Sullivan was quick to credit teammate Don Kasza with boosting the team’s performance to start the season.

“He’s really hard to beat in practice,” Sullivan said of Kasza. “So, I feel like if I can run around his lap times and keep my car underneath me, it’ll be a good night. He’s a really good teammate to have.”

Kasza completed a double-podium performance in Australia for North Border Racing with a third-place finish, giving the team an early lead in the Constructors Championship with 41 points. They enjoy a 23-point cushion over Ares Racing, with all 18 Ares points coming from Darcy Ford’s second-place finish.

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is an interesting layout, with plenty of elevation changes throughout the 4.655-km circuit. Highlights of the circuit include Turn 1 (known as Elf), which is a right-hander taken under heavy braking at the end of the long start-finish straightaway, the sweeping right-hand Repsol Curve to begin sector two, the tight left-hand La Caixa hairpin at the beginning of sector three, and a slow-left right chicane before getting back onto the start-finish straightaway.

The pre-race show will begin on the Canadian eMotorsports Network Facebook page (www.facebook.com/eMotorsportscan) at 7:30 p.m. EST, which will include the 18-minute qualifying session starting at 7:40 p.m. EST, followed by the race itself immediately after.
