With just two regular season races remaining, the Canadian eMotorsports Network NASCAR Series travels to the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on Tuesday for the Canada 125 presented by Tim Horton’s.
This is the third of four road courses on the 2020 schedule, and the only Canadian stop for the circuit. The post-season begins at Darlington Raceway on September 15.
Favorites entering the race include the previous two road-course winners this season, Scott Bailey (Sonoma) and Corbin MacAulay (Watkins Glen).
All eyes are on the battle for the final playoff spots, with Lee Campbell holding a 22-point cushion in sixteenth position over Michael Robinson; Dalton Simpson trails the playoffs by 23-points.
The other battle to keep an eye on is atop the standings, as Darcy Ford, Jose Mercado and Ryan Gibson each hold three victories this season; the driver with the most victories will be crowned the regular season champion, carrying additional playoff points through the duration of the playoffs. If there is a tie for wins at the end of the regular season, the tiebreaker is points earned, where Ford owns a 33-point advantage over Mercado, and a 123-point advantage over Gibson.
Mike Marini and Kevin Daigle, of True North Racin’, continue to look for their first wins of the season, which would also be the first for the Toyota manufacturer; Chevrolet and Ford have split the victories through the first 14-races this season.
Marini and Daigle are the highest ranked drivers without victories, currently sitting in eighth and ninth.
The final regular season race takes place at the Daytona International Speedway; the Cracked Device Co. 200 will be held on Tuesday, September 8.
Here are the 2020 driver standings entering the Canada 125 presented by Tim Horton’s at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on Tuesday night.
