The Canadian eMotorsports Network Formula 1 Series is set to head south.
Drivers will tackle the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace for the penultimate round of the inaugural Formula 1 Series season, the Fix Auto Charlottetown Brazilian Grand Prix, on Thursday.
Pre-race coverage will begin at 7:30 p.m. EST on the Canadian eMotorsports Network Facebook page, with qualifying set for 7:40 p.m. EST and the race immediately afterward.
Corbin MacAulay drove away from the field to capture last week’s Taco Boyz Mexican Grand Prix for his ninth win of the season, clinching the drivers championship in the process.
The focus then shifts to the constructors table, where Hurricanes eMotorsports enters the race with a 54-point lead over second-place North Border Racing, with Alpha Flow F1 (65 points behind) and Ares Racing (69 points) still having a mathematical shot at the team championship, though Hurricanes eMotorsports can clinch the title this week.
To do it, they’ll have to navigate the tricky Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace, perhaps better known as Interlagos, which measures 4.309 km and features plenty of elevation changes throughout its 15 corners while running anti-clockwise.
The lap begins with a short run toward the aptly-named Curva 1, a downhill left-hander that quickly transitions into the S do Senna right-hander before getting into the Curva do Sol, a gradual left-hander leading into the first of two DRS zones on the circuit, the Reta Oposta straightaway.
At the end of the straight, the Descida do Lago double left-hander awaits with a slight downhill incline before getting onto a medium-length straightaway.
Beginning with the Ferradura right-hander, drivers will need to be technically sound in the second half of the lap. Ferradura connects into the right-hand Laranjinha before a short climb into Esse, another right-hander. From there, it’s into the Pinheirinho left-hander before another climb into Bico de Pato, the tightest turn on the circuit from an angular perspective.
Coming out of Bico de Pato, it’s a short approach into the Mergulho left-hander before a short straight into Junçāo, a left-hander where a clean exit is important as it’s full throttle up the hill through Subida dos Boxes as part of a long sprint back to the start-finish line to complete the lap.
