Hurricanes complete first ACAA meet of the season

The Holland Hurricanes men’s and women’s cross-country runners had a great start to the ACAA season when they competed in their first meet held on Saturday at Mapleton Park in Moncton, hosted by the Crandall University Chargers.

The men’s team captured second place in the team event led by André Boudreau, who finished second in the individual men’s competition with a time of 31:30.

Rounding out the Hurricanes men’s runners were Ryan Francom (sixth, 32:52), James Wilmot (11th, 36:56), Agwell Francois (12th, 37:01), Chris Lomond (14th, 37:18) and Bejamin Nwagogazi-Awuja (15th, 37:18).

On the women’s side Haley Shea was the fastest runner for the ‘Canes, finishing the race in fifth position with a time of 29:55; she was followed by Isabelle Saunders (seventh, 31:51) and Teanna Letkeman (16th, 35:06).

The Hurricanes will return to action on September 29 when they travel to Sackville, NB to compete in a meet hosted by the Mount Allison Mounties.

The Holland Hurricanes will host the 2018 ACAA Cross Country Running Championships on October 27 at the Brookvale Ski Park.
