Stewardship & Communications Officer

Continuing full-time position commencing ASAP

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Executive Director, Advancement/Holland College Foundation & Alumni, the successful candidate will:
  • Collaborate with management and advancement staff to lead the development and implementation of a stewardship and donor engagement program that fosters and nurtures long-term, meaningful relationships with donors and sponsors.
  • Create and oversee a donor recognition matrix and an annual stewardship and engagement calendar customized for donors at varying levels and who support a broad range of initiatives. Contributes to the identification and implementation of new and innovative recognition, appreciation and engagement opportunities.
  • Work with development and alumni staff on key messaging for fundraising appeals, collateral, donor reports, and other strategic priorities. Writes press releases, website content, newsletters, etc.
  • Manage departmental newsletters and communications (alumni e-news, employee giving spotlights, etc.)
  • Source and write articles for web, social media, newsletters, and annual reports.
  • Monitor, update, and create content for Foundation and Alumni social media channels and website pages.
  • Oversee and execute required reporting for foundations and corporate donors.
  • Create targeted communications and key collateral including brochures, media releases, invitations, donor reports, annual reports, etc.
  • Track and maintain information and data for all stewardship, communications, and recognition efforts.
  • Build donor profiles within the scholarship, bursary and award donors website and oversees the management of donor and alumni information in Donor & Alumni Hall
  • Plan and organize donor events and announcements including tours, milestone celebrations, campaign events, etc. to motivate increased and continued support.
  • Participates in the production of the annual Holland College Golf Classic and other departmental events with a primary focus on donor/sponsor recognition and communications.
  • Additional duties as required, which may include fundraising.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or Diploma, preferably in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, or Communications, with a minimum of two years' related experience. 
  • Project management skills and ability to steer creative communications projects from overall goal through strategy, creative development, execution, and measurement.
  • Technical skills in social media management, graphic design programs (Canva), and data analytics.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong sense of diplomacy and demonstrated ability to build strong, collaborative relationships within and across departments.
  • Strong creative ability, superior written communication skills, and the ability to effectively engage and support a range of audiences.
  • Experience in institutional advancement, fundraising, content development, video production and/or managing information in CRMs would be considered assets.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a demonstrated ability for accuracy and attention to detail
