Refrigeration Air Conditioning Mechanic Block Release Learning Manager

Term position: December 8, 2025 to June 19, 2026; 35 hours/wk

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Program Manager of Industrial Technology and Trades, the successful applicants will ensure the successful delivery of the Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic Block Release program by providing a high-quality program and creating an inclusive and safe teaching and learning environment.  The successful applicant will be responsible to:

  • Assist learners in the development of required curriculum outcomes through such activities as individual and group instruction, self-directed learning, and performance assessments.
  • Deliver excellence in learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success.
  • Promote student success by showing flexibility in style and work schedule as well as exhibiting a passion for teaching students and engaging students in the learning process.
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Develop, review and update learning materials, using an online based learning management system (SAM).
  • Liaise with industry to promote student learning and program relevancy.
  • Comply with OH&S regulations.
  • Counsel learners regarding occupational goals.
  • Participate in program development and planning activities.
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Red Seal in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic is mandatory. 
  • Graduate of post secondary training in HVAC/Refrigeration or related trade is considered an asset.
  • A minimum of five years recent/relevant experience in the industry is required.
  • Ability to develop laboratory demonstrations and teaching aids.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, presentation and leadership skills
  • Strong computer literacy skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently yet be part of a team.
  • Prior teaching experience and/or Certificate in Adult Education will be considered an asset.

Salary:

$37.25 to $55.08/hr (35hrs/wk).
