Athletics Development and Communication Coordinator

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Holland College is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Athletics Development and Communications Coordinator to support the growth and visibility of the Hurricanes Athletics Program. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, organized, and energetic individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about collegiate athletics.  The successful candidate will:

  • Act as a primary liaison between the Athletic Director and coaching staff to coordinate activities across  Hurricanes teams.
  • Provide administrative support for varsity teams, including managing rosters, scheduling, travel logistics, and compiling team statistics.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective sponsors, community partners, and volunteers to support program growth.
  • Lead the creation and distribution of promotional content such as the Hurricanes Athletic Guide, game reports, feature stories, press releases, and e-newsletters.
  • Maintain comprehensive historical records, including rosters, schedules, and statistical data for all teams.
  • Support athlete recruitment and retention efforts by building and maintaining a database of high-potential local and off-island athletes.
  • Enhance the Hurricanes’ digital presence through active management of social media platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter (X), Instagram, and others.
  • Regularly update the Athletics section of the Holland College website with news, game results, schedules, athlete features, sponsor recognition, and other relevant content.
  • Prepare reports, proposals, and research on current trends and best practices in collegiate athletics and recreation.
  • Assist in organizing and promoting on-campus student events and athletic-related activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years experience in athletics administration, sponsorship development, or communications. 
  • Proficiency in graphic design, specifically with Adobe Photoshop. 
  • Video editing skills using Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, or similar software. 
  • Experience with live streaming, particularly using vMix software, is essential. 
  • Strong writing experience for a range of platforms (e.g., press releases, feature stories, social media). 
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in social media management and digital content creation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • A collaborative team player with a proactive and adaptable work style.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends to support athletic events as needed.

Salary:

$32.27 to $40.33 per hour; 37.5 hrs/wk
