Holland College, the Holland College Foundation, and Holland Hurricanes hosted the 20th Annual Holland College Golf Classic, presented by Bell Aliant, on September 17 at Belvedere Golf Club.

Organized in collaboration with returning honorary co-chairs Quentin Bevan, Allan Burgoyne, and Allan (Nickel) MacDonald, the 2020 tournament was adjusted in adherence to health and safety guidelines implemented by the Chief Public Health Officer.  Thirty-seven teams participated, and approximately $67,000 was raised to support student financial aid, varsity athletics, and alumni initiatives.

“We know this has been a difficult year for most,” said Allan Burgoyne, representing the co-chair trio. “We were humbled and overwhelmed to see our community come together and continue to support the students and the college as they navigate this challenging time.”

“Our gratitude to all who participated, contributed, or volunteered is immense,” said Jo-Ann Campbell-Boutilier, Executive Director, College Advancement and Holland College Foundation. “Given the tremendous uncertainty of the current times, students need our support now more than ever before.”

“This was an incredible day showcasing the support of so many people including our students and staff,” said Albert Roche, Director of Athletics and Recreation. “The event was an outstanding illustration of our impact in our Island community coupled with the resilient and giving nature of our corporate friends”.

With a score of 56, the winning team was R. Birt & Associates, comprised of team members Steven, Justin, Brandon, and Jordan Birt.
