Trent Collicutt, President of the Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists of Prince Edward Island (ACETTPEI) attended the Holland College Charlottetown Graduation Ceremony recently to present their Technologist Thesis Awards to graduating students of the college’s technology programs.
The technical thesis, also referred to as the Applied Research Project, is a mandatory component of all accredited technologist level programs. The college’s Architectural Technology, Computer Engineering Technology and Electronics Engineering Technology programs are all Nationally Accredited by the Canadian Technology Accreditation Board of the Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists.
“As we move into the 21st century, technology skills are an important part of the success of any project. These CTAB accredited programs provided by Holland College provide these students with the skills needed in the world of applied science and engineering technology,” said Trent Collicutt, President of ACETTPEI. “These students have demonstrated independent thought, self discipline, and the ability to perform in depth research. These are some of the qualities that mark them as professionals. ACETTPEI is proud to present them with these awards to recognize their achievement, and look forward to the day when we can count them among our list of members.”
In recognition of the top thesis of the graduating classes, ACETTPEI presents these awards on an annual basis. Receiving the awards this year were:
Architectural Technology - Dennis Cormier was the recipient of the Architectural Technology Thesis Award. Dennis's thesis examined the principles of sound transmission in the design of a Recording Arts Training Facility.
Computer Engineering Technology (CET) - Shawn Gallant was the recipient of the Computer Engineering Technology Thesis Award and his thesis topic was "Social Engineering". Shawn's thesis described how to protect networks from social engineering attacks.
Electronics Engineering Technology (EET) - Justin Perry was the recipient of the Electronics Engineering Technology Thesis Award and his topic was "A Technical Report on the Growing and Advancing Technology of Cellular Communications".
