About Victoria Playhouse: Victoria Playhouse is a vibrant cultural institution dedicated to providing exceptional theater experiences in Victoria, PEI. We are committed to fostering artistic talent and enriching our community through captivating performances and engaging programs.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Finance and Operations Manager to oversee the financial activities and daily operations of Victoria Playhouse. The ideal candidate will be proficient in bookkeeping software, have experience managing staff, and possess a strong understanding of nonprofit organizations or the theater industry.
Responsibilities:
- Manage bookkeeping tasks, including inputting invoices, requesting checks, and tracking all income sources (including box office, donations, and funding). Proficiency with Sage is preferred.
- Prepare and analyze income statements and balance sheets.
- Oversee ticket sales, payroll, and payment of artists, directors, and stage managers. Handle correspondence and maintain timely communication, including but not limited to, phone calls, messages, and emails.
- Supervise staff scheduling and ensure efficient operations.
- Coordinate the payment of rent and other expenses.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations for all personnel.
- Liaise with the board executive on a weekly basis, providing updates and seeking support as needed.
- Collaborate with the Board and/or current bookkeeper preparing and maintaining the budget to ensure financial stability.
- Collaborate with the board on marketing initiatives and fundraising efforts to support Victoria Playhouse’s mission.
- Take ownership of marketing initiatives, fundraising efforts, and the preparation of grant applications to support Victoria Playhouse’s mission, with oversight and support from the board.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in bookkeeping, preferably with Sage accounting software.
- Strong organizational and managerial skills, with the ability to oversee staff and operations effectively. Experience working in a nonprofit organization and/or the theatre industry is an asset.
- Familiarity with income statements, balance sheets, and financial reporting.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and efficiency.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
