Congratulations on your acceptance into the Environmental Applied Science Technology (EAST) Program at Holland College! We recognize this is an exciting and important step for you toward your future career. We are looking forward to meeting and working with you as you start this incredible and rewarding journey toward attaining your goals.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions which we will clarify as much as possible on what you can expect and how best to prepare. Also, please email Bryan Grimmelt to confirm you received this email. This will help verify we have your correct contact information, and ensures that you will receive emails from us.
One of the required courses (for all Holland College students) is Computer Essentials, which is also part of your first year. You can take this course during the summer starting on July 3, 2023, reducing your course load for the first term. For more information, contact the admissions office.
Please continue to check for Holland College emails over the summer with more information.
There will be lab and field activities that require special clothing. This includes a lab coat (which we will supply for you).
You will also need to purchase suitable gear for the field work, including chest waders and rubber boots. Steel toe boots/shoes are also required. Students should also purchase their own good quality compass. More information on obtaining these items will be sent out. It is suggested that you also own a good rain suit and rubber boots for the course fieldwork.
A separate e-mail will be sent with the Textbook information.
Currently, we are investigating the use of Open-Sources Textbooks for some courses which will result in reduced costs for students.
This is the main laboratory. For classrooms for lectures, these may vary for each class and time so please watch for your schedule to come out for specific classrooms.
