Another exciting round comes to a close on Tuesday in the Canadian eMotorsports Network NASCAR Series Playoffs. The Round-of-12 concludes at the Pepsi Roval 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway where the top eight drivers will advance to the third round of the 2020 playoffs.
The top-five are comfortably sitting inside the cutline with Darcy Ford (PEI, Canada) and Scott Bailey (Michigan, USA) both locked in after earning wins in the first two races of the round. Ryan Gibson (West Virginia, USA), Jose Mercado (Florida, USA) and Mike Marini (Ontario, Canada) are sitting with cushions of 56, 48 and 29-points respectively in third through fifth.
Things tighten up slightly in the sixth and seventh positions, where Jacob Nelson (Tennessee, USA) and Corbin MacAulay (PEI, Canada) sit 14 and 13-points to the good over the ninth-place driver of Chad Hyder (Ohio, USA).
Daniel Cudmore (PEI, Canada) sits in the eighth and final playoff spot, holding a two-point cushion over Hyder, with Kevin Daigle (Ontario, Canada) sitting four-points out of eighth. Trevor Kinsey (Michigan, USA) trails by seven points, while Jason MacQuarrie (PEI, Canada) is 39-points back and will most likely need a win on Tuesday to advance.
The Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval features parts of the traditional oval track, plus the in-field road course. The 54-lap race will be divided into three stages, with valuable points being awarded to the top-10 at the end of the first two stages.
Road course winners this season have included Scott Bailey (Sonoma), Corbin MacAulay (Watkins Glen) and Mike Marini (Canadian Tire Motorsport Park).
The Round-of-8 will begin on October 27 at the Kansas Speedway; the other two races in the round take place at Texas and Martinsville, before the season finale on November 17 at the Phoenix Raceway; this is the 22nd race on the schedule.
All races can be seen live at www.facebook.com/eMotorsportsCAN, with the pre-race show beginning at 7:45pm eastern.
