‘Canes drop to 0-2 at CCAA National Championship

It was a struggle for the Holland Hurricanes at the 2019 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) National Men’s Volleyball Championship on Friday in Red Deer, Alberta, they fell to the Griffons de l'Outaouais (Gatineau, QC) in straight-sets in the bronze medal quarter-final match.

The Griffons, who used set wins of 25-14, 25-18 and 25-19, now advance to the bronze medal semi-final match on Saturday versus the loser of the Red Deer College Kings (Red Deer, AB) and Vancouver Island University Mariners (Nanaimo, BC) match taking place Friday evening.

Alexis Tournier led the Griffons to victory with 15 kills while Frederick Bouliane contributed with six digs.

The Hurricanes top performers in the match were Brett Butler (eight kills) and Jeff MacDonald (four digs) in the loss.

The Player of the Game for the Hurricanes was Brett Butler. 

With the loss the Hurricanes drop to 0-2 in the tournament; they will play their final match of the championship on Saturday at 5pm Atlantic time versus the loser of the Titans de Limoilou (Québec City, QC) and Humber College Hawks (Etobicoke, ON) match on Friday evening.
