Cracked Device Co. 200 at Daytona preview

The 2021 Canadian eMotorsports Network NASCAR Series regular season concludes on Tuesday with the Cracked Device Co. 200 at the Daytona International Speedway.  This is the 14th race of the season.

All eyes will be on the final two playoff positions yet to be claimed. With the top 14 drivers all locked in, Kevin Daigle (Ontario, Canada, True North Racin’) and Andy Hertel (Ohio, USA, 519 E-Racing) are hoping to maintain their positions in the standings, currently sitting 15th and 16th.  Daigle has a 12-point cushion over the 17th place driver entering Tuesday night, while Hertel is safe by five-points.

Drivers that could jump into the playoffs with a strong showing on Tuesday include Jason Butler (Ontario, Canada, 519 E-Racing) who sits in 17th position, and Lee Campbell (New York, USA, Team !Hazzah!) who is currently 14-points out of the playoffs in 18th.  These two drivers have the best chance of advancing with strong points races, while realistically the drivers from 19th on back are in the position where a win is most likely what it will take to get them into the post-season.

In this event in 2020, Jacob Nelson (Tennessee, USA, Red Dirt Racing) went to victory lane while earlier in 2021 in the season opener at Daytona, Darcy Ford (PEI, Canada, Atlantic Motorsports) was victorious.

The top-16 drivers in the standings will continue to battle for the 2021 series championship, while the drivers that miss the playoffs will continue to compete, but will be ineligible to win the championship.  The first playoff race of the round-of-16 is the U.S. Navy 250 on May 18 at the Texas Motor Speedway, with races at Road America (May 25th) and Bristol (June 1) completing the round.

The Cracked Device Co. 200 at the Daytona International Speedway on Tuesday will be made up of 80-laps over three stages on the 2.5-mile speedway.
