Government-Funded Corrections Training

October 28, 2026
Eligible applicants can now apply for the January 2027 intake through the Province of Prince Edward Island website

The Province of PEI has renewed its partnership with the Atlantic Police Academy to offer a subsidized six-month Correctional Officer Training Program. The program is funded through the Canada-PEI Labour Market Development Agreement and Workforce Development Agreement.

The program begins on January 4, 2027, and includes a seven-week on-the-job training placement at an Island correctional centre. Students are not required to live in residence at the APA for this program.

Program graduates receive their Correctional Officer certificate from Holland College and are guaranteed an interview with the Public Service Commission at one of PEI’s correctional facilities.

Interested applicants should review the eligibility requirements and apply directly through the Province of Prince Edward Island website: https://www.princeedwardisland.ca/en/service/correctional-officer-training-program

Applications and supporting documents are due at noon on November 13th through the government’s application portal.
