Holland College Alumni invited to Homecoming Football Game
October 3, 2013
Charlottetown, PE – The Office of Alumni Relations is pleased to invite Holland College graduates to come out and cheer for the Holland Hurricanes football team on Thanksgiving Sunday, October 13 at 1 p.m., as they take on their rivals the Saint John Seawolves. Free admission and giveaways will be available to those with Holland College alumni cards. Students and children are always admitted free of charge.
Football lovers across the Island have embraced the Hurricanes, and home games are popular and lively events. This game promises to be just as exciting, with top calibre on-field action, music by the Holland College Welshmen Community Band, and a half-time turkey toss sponsored by the Allen Street Sobeys store and the Office of Alumni Relations.
“Alumni are an important part of the Holland College family,” said College President Dr. Brian McMillan. “By inviting them to attend a home game, we hope to build a tradition of ‘homecoming’ for College alumni and look forward to this event becoming an annual custom for many of our alumni.”
The Hurricanes were the Atlantic Football League Champions in 2011 and had another strong season in 2012, falling only in the championship match.
“The Hurricanes have exceeded our expectations in terms of performance and popularity. This is our fourth season in the AFL, and every year we are determined to build on the resurgence of football on P.E.I. We have our sights set on regaining the championship title in 2013,” said Holland College vice-president and president of the Hurricanes Football Club, Mike O’Grady.
