July 22, 2014
The Holland Hurricanes women’s soccer team has added forward Tessa Fudge to their roster for the 2014 ACAA soccer season. Fudge, from New Ross, Nova Scotia, spent last season as a member of the UPEI Panthers.
“I’m very excited about attending Holland College this fall and I’m ready to learn”, she shared as she prepares for her first year in the Dental program.
During the summer she is a member of the South Shore United Football Club in Nova Scotia; she played her high school soccer at the Forest Heights Community School.
The 5’5”, UPEI Soccer Panthers Rookie of the Year last season helped her team reach the AUS Championship after scoring the winning goal in a game versus Acadia University in October; she lists this as one of her top soccer accomplishments to date.
Head Coach Kris McKinnon is pleased with the new addition to his lineup. “Any time you can add a player of Tessa’s caliber you are going to be excited. She brings pace, awareness and a keen ability to score. Her experience with Soccer Nova Scotia provincial teams and in the AUS will be very valuable to our program. She will step into our program as a leader and a player capable of being a game changer”, McKinnon shared.
Experts list Fudge as a “player with great vision on the field that can bring veteran experience” as she enters her second season of collegiate soccer. “Her control and composure is something that separates her from most players”.
As the Hurricanes ACAA regular season draws near, their first game being played on Saturday, September 6th in Fredericton versus the STU Tommies, Fudge shares the same goal as her teammates. “We have our eyes on the ACAA championships and to get back to nationals”.
The Hurricanes home opener takes place on Saturday, September 13th at 2pm when they host the Dal-AC Rams at the Terry Fox Complex in Cornwall.
