XC | Hurricanes compete at Université de Sainte-Anne over weekend

The Holland Hurricanes men’s and women’s cross country running teams travelled to Clare, Nova Scotia on Saturday to compete in the second ACAA meet of the season hosted by the Université de Sainte-Anne Dragons.

The course consisted of runners racing on a loop with distances of six kilometers for the women and eight kilometers for the men along the coastal trail off of St. Mary’s Bay.

In the women’s division the Hurricanes finished fourth behind first place Mount St. Vincent Mystics, second place Mount Allison Mounties and third place Dalhousie Agricultural Campus Rams.

The Hurricanes were led by Haley Shea (26:39) who finished in third place while Lisa Maria-Kerbler (28:44) finished seventh.  Sonja Parkman (30:47, 17th), Christena Visser (30:54, 18th) and Brittany Brown (42:50, 26th) rounded out the Hurricanes runners.

On the men’s side the Hurricanes rallied to finish in third place behind first place Mount Allison Mounties and second place Dalhousie Agricultural Campus Rams.

Scott Langille was the top Hurricanes runner finishing in 5th place with a time of 29:50; he was followed by teammates Raymond Umuwe (34:22, 12th), Sean Sullivan (34:28, 14tj) and TJ Markland (37:19, 21st).

Hurricanes will run again on October 14th in Halifax, NS hosted by Mount St. Vincent Mystics before hosting the ACAA Championships on October 28th in Brookvale, PEI at the Brookvale Provincial Ski Park.
