Women’s Hockey continue season with home games versus Acadia

The Holland College Hurricanes women’s hockey team held their home opener on Saturday versus the Acadia University. Holland College, Acadia, UNB and Cape Breton University make up the Eastern Canadian Women’s Hockey League (www.ecwhl.com).
The Hurricanes sat at 0-2 entering the game after road losses to the UNB Red Blazers on November 2nd and 3rd.
Saturday night’s game was held at the APM Centre in Cornwall and seen the team from Acadia go on to shut out the Hurricanes 3-0. Candace Hopkinson started in goal for the Hurricanes.
The two teams also met on Sunday, this time the Hurricanes called Slemon Park their home for the day. Katie Flynn was able to score for the ‘Canes but strong goaltending from the Acadia goaltender and three goals allowed them to defeat the Hurricanes by a score of 3-1. Tori McCrindle started in goal for the Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes drop to 0-4 on the season and are in action again on January 11th and 12th when they visit Acadia for a pair of road games. Acadia now sits at 4-1-1 and leads the ECWHL.
The Hurricanes next home games take place on January 25th and 26th versus UNB at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown.
