VBALL | ‘Canes finishing regular season this weekend with men at home and women on road

It’s the final weekend of the regular season for the men’s and women’s volleyball Hurricanes, the ‘Canes women will finish with two games in New Brunswick while the men are at home for a pair of matches in Charlottetown.
On Saturday the Hurricanes women will visit the Mount Allison Mounties at 2pm in Sackville, NB while the men are at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement for a 5pm match with the UNBSJ Seawolves. The action continues on Sunday with a 4pm men’s match in Charlottetown and a women’s match in Fredericton, NB at 5pm; both of Sunday’s games are against the STU Tommies.
The men’s Hurricanes are 12-1 and have clinched first place in the ACAA for the conference championships next weekend in Fredericton, NB; Saturday’s opponents, the UNBSJ Seawolves, enter the weekend at 8-6 and in a tie for second place.
This season the ‘Canes have won all four matches versus the Seawolves.
The Hurricanes opponents on Sunday, the STU Tommies, are also 8-6 this season. The Hurricanes lead the season series 3-1.
At the ACAA Championships next weekend the ‘Canes will play a semi-final match versus the fourth seed, Université de Sainte-Anne Dragons while the Seawolves and Tommies will face off in the other semi-final match.
The Hurricanes women are 16-3 and have clinched second place in the ACAA standings while their Saturday opponents, the Mount Allison Mounties, are 7-12 and in a tie for fifth place.
The Hurricanes lead the season series with the Mounties, 2-0.
Sunday’s opponents, the STU Tommies, are 14-5 and in third place in the ACAA; the Hurricanes have won both previous matchups between the two teams this season.
The Hurricanes, along with the first place MSVU Mystics, will receive a bye to the semi-finals next weekend at the ACAA Championships, while the Tommies, Seawolves, Mounties and UKC Blue Devils will play in quarter-final matches.
