The women’s soccer program continues to add talent to the roster for this coming season. The most recent addition is Jill Curley who has committed to the Holland Hurricanes for the 2014 ACAA season. The Summerside native and Three Oaks grad will be entering her first year in the Practical Nursing program. Last year Curley was a member of the UPEI Panthers women’s soccer team.

In 2012-2013 Curley was a co-captain of the PEI Canada Games team that competed in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

The centre fullback is looking forward to the season ahead.

“I am very excited about attending Holland College this fall because they have given me the opportunity to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse while playing soccer, my greatest passion. I am anxious to see what the next two years will bring.”

“We welcome Jill to the Canes family and look forward to seeing her patrol our back line”, shared head coach Kris McKinnon. “Jill strives for success both in the classroom and on the pitch. She has competed for PEI through provincial teams and the Canada Games and her experience will be invaluable. She will be looked upon to contribute with our program from day 1”, he shared.

“My goal for this season is to win the ACAA Championship like the Hurricanes had done last year!” Curley shared.

“I believe my greatest strength as a player is my drive and perseverance to keep pushing myself and my teammates. On and off the field I find myself as a motivator, helping my teammates as well as myself to keep striving to be better.”

Last season the Hurricanes won the ACAA championships and competed at the CCAA national women’s soccer championships in British Columbia.

This season the ‘Canes will begin their training camp in late August and will kick off their regular season on Saturday, September 6th on the road in Fredericton versus the St. Thomas Tommies. The team’s home opener will take place on Saturday, September 13th versus the Dalhousie Agricultural College Rams at 2pm at the Terry Fox Complex in Cornwall.
