Spicer and Fitzgerald chosen as Hurricanes Athletes of the Week

Cornwall – Hurricanes soccer players Megan Spicer and Adam Fitzgerald have been chosen as the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 15.
Spicer, a forward from Sussex, New Brunswick scored seven goals over two weekend ACAA regular season games and helped the Hurricanes pick up wins in both games in the process. On Saturday, Spicer scored three goals in the Hurricanes 5-0 win over the Dal-AC Rams and on Sunday she added four more as the ‘Canes defeated the Crandall Chargers 7-1 in Moncton. Spicer was the 2012-2013 Hurricanes female Athlete of the Year, the ACAA female Athlete of the Year across all sports as well as a CCAA All-Canadian.
The Hurricanes women’s soccer club is now 2-1-1 and sitting in second place in the ACAA standings.
Fitzgerald, a mid-fielder from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia scored in Saturdays 4-1 victory over the Dal-AC Rams and provided solid play in Sunday’s 1-0 victory over the Crandall Chargers in Moncton. Fitzgerald is a second year player currently studying in the Electronics Engineering Technology program.
The men’s Hurricanes are currently leading the ACAA regular season standings with a record of 2-0-2.
This upcoming weekend the Hurricanes will welcome the men’s and women’s teams from UNB Saint John and St. Thomas University to the Terry Fox Complex in Cornwall. The women’s games will take place at 2pm on both days while the men’s games will get underway at 4pm.
