SOC | Hurricanes hosting STU and UNBSJ during Home Opener Weekend

September 20, 2017

It’s a big weekend for the men’s and women’s soccer Hurricanes, after starting their ACAA regular seasons on the road for the first four games, they finally get to play in front of their home fans. On Saturday at the Terry Fox Sports Complex in Cornwall, the ‘Canes host the STU Tommies at 1 and 3pm (W/M). The action continues on Sunday when the Hurricanes host the UNBSJ Seawolves at 12 and 2pm (W/M).

The men’s ‘Canes have gotten off to a fast start, going 4-0 to begin the season with victories over the Dal AC Rams, Crandall Chargers, UKC Blue Devils and MSVU Mystics. The Hurricanes lead the ACAA standings with 12 points. The Mystics sit in second with 7 points and a 2-1-1 record.

The men’s Tommies have yet to find the win column but have picked up two ties and have lost just one. They sit in fifth place with two points while the UNBSJ Seawolves share the same record.

In early National Rankings the men’s Hurricanes were placed at number four this week by the CCAA.

The women’s Hurricanes, now 2-2 on the season, sit in second place in an extremely competitive ACAA conference. They’ve recorded wins over the Dal AC Rams and UKC Blue Devils while dropping games to the Chargers and Mystics.

The ‘Canes trail the first place Tommies by just a point as they sit at 2-0-1 this season with seven points.

The Hurricanes opponents on Sunday, the UNBSJ Seawolves, sit in a tie for sixth place with a 0-1-2 record.
