MSOC | Hurricanes drop opening game at CCAA Nationals in British Columbia
November 8, 2017
It was not the start the Holland Hurricanes were looking for on Wednesday when they took on the Keyano College Huskies at the 2017 CCAA National Men’s Soccer Championship in Nanaimo, British Columbia; the ‘Canes lost the game 2-0 in their opening match of the tournament.
Two second half goals for the Keyano Huskies gave them the victory over Holland College as the Hurricanes struggled to produce quality-scoring opportunities in the match. The Huskies will now take on the winner of the Douglas Royals/Algonquin Thunder match-taking place on Wednesday afternoon.
With the loss the ‘Canes will take on the loser of the Royals/Thunder match in the bronze qualifier game on Thursday at 2pm AST.
The Hurricanes Player of the Game was full back, Harrison Ellison.
On Tuesday night, ‘Canes striker Ibra Sanoh was recognized by the CCAA with their National Player of the Year award; it was the first time a Hurricanes student-athlete has ever received this award across all sports.
Sanoh was also named a CCAA All-Canadian for the fourth time in his career.
