MBASE | Hurricanes sweep Tigers and Huskies over weekend games

The Holland Hurricanes finished their final full weekend of regular season baseball this weekend, first hosting the Dalhousie Tigers for their final home double-header of the season on Saturday.
A big 8-0 lead through five innings ultimately stretched to a 10-0 lead with the game ending in the sixth inning. Brady Arsenault was the winning pitcher while Brayden Handrahan entered the game in relief for Holland College.
In game two the Tigers jumped out to an early 2-1 lead through two innings with the Hurricanes lone run coming off of a Colton Beach solo home run.
The Hurricanes would retake the lead when Charles MacLellan hit a RBI triple before Danny Rice hit an RBI single to put the ‘Canes up 5-2.
A strong final few innings for the Hurricanes including an impressive pitching performance by Tanner Banks gave the Hurricanes the 11-2 victory in game two versus Dalhousie.
On Sunday the Hurricanes travelled to Saint Mary’s to take on the Huskies for the first time this season.
A 6-2 SMU lead put the ‘Canes in a hole in the final few innings before they mounted a comeback to tie the game at 6-6 and force extra innings. Fast forward to the 13th inning where the ‘Canes came out on top by a score of 7-6.
In game two the ‘Canes made short work of the Huskies by taking the game 14-1.
With the four victories over the weekend the Hurricanes improve to 13-1 on the season and clinch the regular season championship with the Huskies finishing second at 10-6.
The Hurricanes will complete their regular season schedule this Wednesday in Antigonish with a pair of games versus the 3-11 St. FX X-Men; these games were originally scheduled for September 10 but postponed due to rain.
The Hurricanes will then turn their attention towards a series of games in Auburn, Maine where they will play the Central Maine Community College Mustangs who are part of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association; games are scheduled for October 14 at 12pm and 2pm.
The ‘Canes will then attend the Canadian National Collegiate Baseball Championship in Oshawa, Ontario October 26-28 hosted by the Durham College Lords featuring the best CCAA baseball teams from around the country.
