The Holland College varsity golf teams will begin their open tryouts at Fox Meadow Golf Club in Stratford on Friday, August 30th as they prepare for another season as members of the Atlantic Collegiate Athletics Association.

The qualifier will stretch over eight rounds of golf where the men’s team will then reduce the number of players down to the top fifteen. These players will train as members of the varsity Hurricanes over the following weeks until the coaching staff selects ten players to represent the Hurricanes as two separate, five player teams at the two ACAA events held on September 21st and September 29th.

The September 21st event will take place at the Mactaquac Golf Club in Fredericton, New Brunswick hosted by the St. Thomas Tommies. The second event, held on September 29th, will take place at the Northumberland Links in Pugwash, Nova Scotia and is hosted by the Dalhousie Agricultural College.

The ACAA schedule will come to a close when the Hurricanes host the ACAA championships at the Links at Crowbush Cove on October 5th and 6th. The ‘Canes will enter three teams of five players in the men’s division of this championship. The Hurricanes have won this tournament every year since 2006.

The Hurricanes season will come to an end when they send their top five players to the Royal Quebec Golf Club for the CCAA Championships that take place October 15th to 18th.

The men’s Hurricanes are coming off of a sixth place finish at last year’s CCAA championship, as well as an eighth place finish at the Golf Canada national championships, making the cut for the first time in school history. Eric Locke finished in fifth place for the individual competition.
