November 21, 2013
The Holland Hurricanes have a two-game set scheduled with the Crandall University Chargers this weekend; Saturday’s games will take place in Charlottetown at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement while Sunday’s game takes place in Moncton, New Brunswick.
The women Hurricanes kick things off on Saturday at 2 pm; this will be the first time these two teams have met this season. The Hurricanes currently sit in a tie for first place in the standings with a 3-1 record this season as well as sit in tenth in the CCAA national rankings while the Chargers have lost all four of their games and sit in a tie for seventh place in the ACAA standings.
“We are hoping to continue our winning ways in the upcoming games versus Crandall. Our focus is running solid offence and establishing our transition game”, shared Coach Mike Connolly.
Steph Hiltz is coming off of a solid performance last weekend versus MSVU where she scored 55 points over two games. “This is another huge weekend for us; the league is so evenly spread. We understand that anything is possible in this league and we do not take any games for granted”, she shared.
Second year player Lisa Edwards knows each game is important. “We need to show up and play hard on the defensive end, then the offense that we need will come.”
The men’s team clashes with the Chargers at 4pm on Saturday in a game that will feature two nationally ranked teams, the Hurricanes at seven and the Chargers at eight.
This season the Hurricanes have gone 3-1 and sit in second place behind the Chargers who are a perfect 4-0 on the season.
The men’s and women’s Hurricanes will travel to Moncton on Sunday for back to back games; the women play at 2pm and the men at 4pm.
