BBALL | Hurricanes to travel to Fredericton for pair of games with Tommies

The men’s and women’s basketball Hurricanes hit the road this Sunday for a pair of games versus the STU Tommies in Fredericton, NB. The women’s game starts at 2pm with the men’s game following at 4pm.

The women’s ‘Canes enter a pivotal game this weekend as they start the new year at 4-2 and in third place while the Tommies are in fourth place at 2-3. In one other previous matchup between the two teams the ‘Canes took the victory 72-59 in Fredericton on December 3.

Entering 2018 the Hurricanes, along with two other ACAA teams, were nationally ranked by the CCAA. The ‘Canes moved up to 11th to finish the year while Mount Allison remained in fifth and MSVU dropped to number nine.

On the men’s side the Hurricanes enter 2018 in a tie for top-spot in the ACAA standings with a record of 6-1 with the Crandall Chargers and Mount Allison Mounties; the Tommies are 2-4 and in a tie for fifth place.

In their only matchup this season the Hurricanes defeated the Tommies 125-61 in Fredericton on December 3.

Nationally, the Hurricanes continue to be the top ACAA ranked team by the CCAA sitting in sixth; Crandall is the other Atlantic ranked team at number 15.

The Hurricanes will return home on January 20 when they host the UKC Blue Devils for a pair of games at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement at 4 and 6pm.
