On Saturday, as a team the Hurricanes would finish in third place while the UKC Blue Devils claimed the banner by a single point over the Mount Allison Mounties.
When Sunday arrived the focus had shifted to qualifying for the CCAA Nationals and representing the ACAA.
For the Hurricanes, strong play by Emma Hughes and Matt Barlow in women’s and men’s singles competition allowed them to qualify with undefeated records.
The Hurricanes scored a total of 20 points on Saturday in the battle for the ACAA Championship that included competitions in the men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles categories.
Emma Hughes was the ‘Canes top performer on Saturday, finishing in second with a record of 2-1 and earning seven points for her teams total.
Josh Watkins would finish third in men’s singles play with a 2-2 record as did Larry Liang and David Cozens in men’s doubles; they would earn five points for the Hurricanes in both categories.
Erinn Quinn and Jonah Wilton would team in the mixed doubles competition where they would go 1-3 and finish in fourth, good enough for three points.
The Hurricanes did not participate in the women’s doubles competition so received no points in that category.
