AOTW | Trainor and Butler named Hurricanes Athletes of the Week

Volleyball players Dana Trainor and Brett Butler have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending February 27.
Trainor, a third year Libero from Charlottetown, PEI, was all over the court defensively on the weekend as the Hurricanes picked up a silver medal at the ACAA Championships in Truro, NS.
On Saturday, in a 3-0 semi-final win over the Mount Allison Mounties, Trainor recorded 13 digs and one assist.
On Sunday, in a 3-2 heartbreaking loss in the conference championship game to the MSVU Mystics, Trainor recorded 25 digs, seven assists and one kill for Holland College.
Trainor finished second in the regular season in total digs with 346 which was just two behind first place. She was also second in digs per set with 4.55.
Trainor currently studies in the Sport & Leisure Management program.
Butler, a third year power from Charlottetown, PEI, led the Hurricanes to their first ever ACAA Volleyball Championship on the weekend.
On Saturday, in a 3-0 semi-final win over the Universite de Sainte-Anne Dragons, Butler recorded nine kills and four digs.
On Sunday, in a 3-0 final win over the UNBSJ Seawolves, Butler took home player of the game honours with ten kills and nine digs.
Butler finished the regular season third in the ACAA in kills per set with 2.48 and second in hitting percentage at 0.227.
Butler currently studies in the Journalism program.
The Men’s Volleyball team will travel to London, Ontario for the 2017 CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championships hosted by Fanshawe March 9-11.
