AOTW | MacInnis and Veitch named Hurricanes Athletes of the Week

Women’s basketball player Lexi MacInnis and men’s volleyball player Gordon Veitch have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending December 3.
MacInnis, a guard from Stratford, PEI, led the Hurricanes to a 72-59 win over the STU Tommies on Sunday in Fredericton, NB with 20 points and four rebounds.
With the victory the Hurricanes improved to 4-2 and continue to sit in third place in the ACAA regular season standings.
The Hurricanes women’s basketball team will be back in action on January 7 when they return to Fredericton, NB to take on the STU Tommies. Their next home game is on January 20 when they host the UKC Blue Devils at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement.
Veitch, a third year power from Cymbria, PEI, had a strong weekend of games versus the UNBSJ Seawolves with nine kills and eight digs in Saturday’s five-set win followed by six kills, six digs and five service aces in Sunday’s three-set sweep.
The Hurricanes sit atop the ACAA standings with a perfect 6-0 record after giving the Seawolves their first two losses of the season this weekend in Saint John, NB.
The Hurricanes return to the court on January 6 and 7 when they host the STU Tommies at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement.
