Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will manage a variety of client engagements, provide guidance to junior staff, and work directly with clients and partners. This role is well-suited to someone who is organized, technically strong, client-focused, and comfortable managing multiple files and deadlines.
Responsibilities
• Prepare and review personal and corporate tax returns.
• Prepare and review compilation, review engagement, and audit files.
• Prepare and review financial statements, working papers, and supporting schedules.
• Assist with bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, and journal entries as needed.
• Prepare government remittances, information returns, and other regulatory filings.
• Manage engagement budgets, timelines, workflow, and filing deadlines.
• Communicate directly with clients regarding information requests, engagement progress, and accounting or tax matters.
• Coach, mentor, and provide technical guidance to accounting associates.
• Work closely with managers and partners to resolve engagement issues and deliver high-quality client service.
• 2-3+ years of experience in accounting, preferably within public accounting.
• Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma/Certificate in Accounting or related field.
• CPA designation or the pursuit of a CPA designation is an asset.
• Proficiency in accounting software applications, including QuickBooks Online, Xero, CaseWare, and TaxCycle.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles, standards, and regulations applicable in PEI/Canadian context.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
