SCS4 - Ship Construction and Stability Level 4

This study package is intended to help you prepare for the SCS4 Transport Canada exam. The SCS4 exam is three hours and generally consists of 20 multiple-choice and/or short answer questions worth two marks each, three stability calculations which may or may not use the ship stability data books for Atlantic Vision or Gypsum Centennial worth 10-15 marks each, two sketch and describe ship construction questions worth 10 marks each. This course requires prior knowledge of math concepts such as order of operations, algebra and trigonometry.

During your exam, you will be provided with a laptop that contains all of the open book publications in PDFs. It is important that you familiarize yourself with these publications so that you know where to find information during the exam. There may be questions that pertain to information that is not found within the publications. We recommend that you spend a minimum of five weeks preparing for this exam.

  • Access to a printer for some documents (optional)
