CG2 – Cargo Level 2

Course Duration: 20 Days
Course Cost: $1,600

This course is intended to prepare the student for the Transport Canada CG2 exam. The CG2 exam is a three-hour exam which consists of 25 multiple choice questions worth 2 marks each, 3 short answer/calculation questions worth 10 marks each and 1 long answer question worth 20 marks (although this may vary depending on the test).

During your exam, you will be provided with a laptop that contains all of the open book publications in PDFs; however, not all answers will be found in the publications – you will be expected to know cargo terminology and operations. We recommend that you spend a minimum of four weeks preparing for this exam.

  • TC exam syllabus
  • Expanded Syllabus
  • All open book publications as listed on the CG2 exam syllabus
  • Additional resources (not open book)
  • Library books (upon request) * and/or access to library e-books
  • Sample calculations and video tutorials for:
    • Dry bulk cargo, packaged cargo, liquid cargo
    • Derrick vector diagram and breaking ttrain
    • Stowage plans
  • Sample exam questions and feedback from previous students

*Library books must be returned to the Marine Training Centre. A pre-paid postage label is available upon request. You will be billed for the replacement of any books that are not returned.

 

To complete this course, you will need:

  • Pens, pencils, erasers
  • Paper or notebook
  • Computer or laptop capable of viewing PDFs
  • Calculator (you cannot use cell phone calculator for TC exam)
  • Graph paper
  • Parallel rules & dividers (optional, for vector diagram)
