Earn a Car
One hardworking Holland College student will “earn” a 2017 Nissan Micra this year, and four others will be awarded $1,000 cash! Will you be one of them?
Are you a full-time student in first or second year of a post-secondary program at Holland College? If yes, you’re eligible!
Faculty will be nominating students on the basis of merit, character, and academic achievement with consideration to personal and professional growth and accomplishments, attitude, perseverance, initiative, leadership, career goals, community involvement, ambition, educational growth, academic effort and work ethic, etc.
This exciting opportunity is being provided thanks to the generosity of Calgary businessman and former Islander, Lou MacEachern, whose hope is to motivate students to achieve their personal and academic best.
The nomination deadline is March 16, 2018. Nominees will be short-listed by the Registrar’s Office and the top five candidates will be interviewed by a selection panel in the spring of 2018.

About Lou MacEachern: Lou MacEachern grew up in Hazel Grove, PEI, and, like many of his generation, left school at a young age to help on the family farm. In 1956, he returned to Queen Charlotte School in Charlottetown as a mature student, after which he attended post-secondary training at Prince of Wales College and then Dalhousie University. MacEachern moved to Calgary, where he married, raised a family, and made his mark as a leader in business and as a benefactor in the community.
“This isn’t about rewarding the student with the highest marks,” said MacEachern, “This is about encouraging all students to roll up their sleeves and work to their full potential.”
