BBALL | Hurricanes ready for home openers this Saturday versus Seawolves

November 10, 2017

It will be a busy day for the basketball Hurricanes this Saturday at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement when they host the UNBSJ Seawolves; tip-offs are scheduled for 2 and 4pm (w/m).

The men’s Hurricanes are a perfect 2-0 early this season after road victories last weekend in Halifax over the MSVU Mystics and UKC Blue Devils.

The Seawolves are 0-1 this season after a 92-78 loss to the Mount Allison Mounties last Sunday in Sackville, NB.

‘Canes guard Michael-Ange Kayeye looks forward to playing on home court.

“We are entering Saturday on a good note after two wins last weekend.  We are a talented and young team that will not take any team for granted,” shared Kayeye.

This is the first of only two home games for the ‘Canes before the holiday break; their only other home game takes place on November 19 when they host the Dal AC Rams.

The women’s Hurricanes enter the weekend at 1-1 after a loss to the MSVU Mystics last Saturday followed by a win over the Blue Devils on Sunday.

UNBSJ enter Saturday’s game at 0-1 after dropping their season opener 53-29 to Mount Allison last Sunday.

Guard Lexi MacInnis is ready to make her home debut with the Hurricanes.

“We’ve been working really hard leading up to this game, putting in a lot of hours both on and off the court. We’re all very excited to come out strong at home this weekend and show everyone what we can do as a team.”

This is the only home game for the women’s Hurricanes before the holiday break; their next home game takes place on January 20 when they host the UKC Blue Devils.
