BAD | Hurricanes begin ACAA season with third place finish in Nova Scotia

The Holland Hurricanes badminton team kicked off their 2017-18 ACAA season at the Université de Sainte-Anne in Church Point, Nova Scotia this weekend.
The ‘Canes finished in third place in the overall standings for the event with the highlight of the tournament being the ‘Canes finishing in first place in the mixed doubles B competition with players Emma Hughes and Connor Loerick leading the way.
Second place finishes for the ‘Canes was Hughes in singles A, Matt Barlow in singles B and Larry Shaopeng and Juana Zhang in mixed doubles A.
The ‘Canes would finish third with Barlow and Josh Watkins in doubles A and Eric Renouf and Craig McAskill in doubles B.
Renouf would finish fourth in singles A action for the Hurricanes.
The winner of the event was Mount Allison with the Dragons finishing in second. Other participating teams were the UKC Blue Devils finishing in fourth and the Dal AC Rams finishing in fifth.
The next event for the ‘Canes is on November 24 and 25 at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement.
